I have always loved taking photographs and Landscape and Nature images were the most important to me. But as I learned more about what I could record with a camera, I realized that Landscapes and Nature were examples to me of novel sights and discoveries. As such, they are a subset of all my attempts to discover and record novel images with a camera. Macro photography revealed sights I had never seen even though I had been looking at many of the objects all my life. And as I began to “see the light” (it is always about the light) and the elements, I began to realize that novel images can be found in far more places than I ever imagined. Here are ones that have special meaning to me.

FYI, RECENT ADDITIONS contains 1-2 examples of my recent work and a title of a gallery where more examples of that work can be found.

The Eureka Moment, A Photo Essay        slide show (28)
The “Insight Experience”
for centuries, artists, poets, muscians and scientists have spoken of that creative moment when they suddenly know they have found the solution to a difficult problem.
it has been called an epiphany, a revelation, a eureka moment, or an insight.
it always emerges from the unconscious.
it can now be visualized by functional MRI & EEG in humans 8 seconds before the subject knows it.

Each of the following images emerged as an insight while I was looking for something else.
Because I was new to serious photography, I have been anxious to capture many images and so took little time to reflect on each possibility. Instead I relied on my intuition that the vista was special.
Later, during work-up, I saw details I did not see on-site, details which were very important to whatever impact the image generated. I attribute this to the “insight process”.
